The Match - On Fire for God!
Today, I share with you the inspiring joy of God! Anonymous donors have given a challenge match gift of $75,000 for the day-to-day ministries and missions of St. Paul’s for 2010! Every dollar that you and I give over what we had planned to give in 2010 will be matched by their dollar! For more details, please go to our Match- On Fire for God page.
Join our household in preparing to make a commitment and a gift to “The Match – On Fire for God!” More information will follow in early September. For now, let us join in prayer. Let the Holy Spirit – the fire of God – inspire our love for God, one another, and all!
New Adult Education Opportunities
The Spiritual Formation Team is excited to announce two new Christian Education opportunities for adults. These Group Studies will meet 10:20-11:20 on Sunday mornings. Tom Sears begins the new Bible Study, which will start September 19. The other class is a series of short-term studies on various topics regarding Christian faith and the church. The first topic, taught by Alicia Aguiar and Pastor Allison, is “Things I Should Have Learned in Confirmation,” beginning October 3rd. No sign up is necessary for either group; just come when you want. If you’re interested in participating in leadership of these opportunities, talk to Pastor Allison for more information (363-2058 or allison@stpaulsumc.org).
Thrift Mart Donations Accepted
Fall Thrift-Mart Tuesday-Wednesday, September 21-22 2010
Donations are now being accepted for the fall Thrift Mart. Donations will be received at the 3rd Avenue entrance (Circle Drive) on Mondays, from the hours of 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday donations will be accepted on September 11 and 18. Questions may be addressed to Doug Thompson or Mary Hurlbut. If you would like to assist with preparations for Thrift Mart, please call the church office at 363-2058.
WHAT IS THRIFT MART?
Thrift Mart at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church provides an opportunity for people to buy quality merchandise at bargain prices. For instance, jeans are just a dollar. Many children’s clothes are 25 or 50 cents. There are linens, electrical items, dishes and other kitchen equipment as well as sewing supplies, knick knacks and treasures (collectibles).
Whether you are a veteran garage sale person or a person that needs to supplement your family income by getting wonderful bargains, we know that you will find our sale helpful and fun.
Good food is available at reasonable prices at the Koffee Kup.
On the second day of the sale at 11:00am the bag sale begins. We sell a garbage bag for $1.00 and customers fill them to the brim. (Free bags are available for those who cannot afford the dollar.) Our church is very aware of the needs of our community in these difficult days. This is one way to help out. Our profits go to meet our mission pledge for United Methodist Women and to support our local church and community projects.
TAX DEDUCTION
If you donate items to St. Paul's Thrift Mart and plan to take a tax deduction, you will need to submit an itemized list of your donations to Kate Brokaw in the church office - kate@stpaulsumc.org. Be sure to include your name, complete address and the date items were donated.
A copy of your list will be returned to you along with an attached letter verifying that the items were donated. The letter also states that the value placed on the donated items was determined solely by you as donor.
